Federation University

Federation University is one of Australia’s oldest public institutions, with over 11,010 UG, 5,607 PG students and 313 researchers for higher education in Australia. It covers both higher education and vocational education and training (VET) programs in Australia. The university has seven campuses namely Mt Helen, SMB and Camp Street at Ballarat; Gippsland at Churchill; Berwick at Melbourne; Wimmera at Horsham; Brisbane at Queensland and other onshore and offshore partners. As per Good Universities Guide 2021, it received a top five-star rating in 11 of 14 categories.

The tuition fee of the programs at Federation University is around 30,600 AUD. International students with good academic grades are eligible for a wide range of scholarships namely the International Exchange Scholarship, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw Scholarship, Australia Awards Scholarship and others of compensation of up to 14,000 AUD.     Federation University Campus is the largest in the Victoria region. It has seven campuses including Mt Helen Campus, SMB Campus, Camp Street Campus, Berwick, Gippsland Campus, Brisbane, and Wimmera Campus. The amenities and facilities of the campuses are discussed below:

    • Mt Helen Campus: The flagship Ballarat campus boasts a state-of-the-art science and engineering building, nursing labs, new health and sports precinct, lecture theatres, 24-hour access to computer labs, library, spiritual facilities, student lounges, and a children’s centre.
    • SMB Campus: Situated in the centre of Ballarat, SMB Campus features TAFE vocational education, skills training, apprenticeships and preparatory courses and state-of-the-art engineering and construction facilities as well as new computer labs.
    • Camp Street Campus: Camp Street is known for its Arts Academy – a unique integration of new and historic buildings, including specialised theatres and galleries. Students study visual and performing arts courses in surroundings that hone their creativity and experiment.
    • Berwick Campus: Equipped with a newly developed science lab, nursing labs, Berwick is the newest campus at FedUni, featuring an expansive solar array that reduces the carbon footprint of the university.

    • Gippsland Campus: Housing the Carbon Technology Research Centre (CTRC), Gippsland features science and engineering labs with the latest equipment, a multi-use auditorium, and the Library Learning Centre.

    Federation University Accommodations

      Federation University Programs

      Federation University Australia offers over 284 pathways, undergraduate, and graduate programs in Allied Health, Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Engineering, ICT, Nursing among others.

    Federation University Application Process

    Aspirants planning to study at Federation University courses need to apply via online mode. Direct application through the Study link is not available for applicants from India, Nepal, and Pakistan. Applicants from these countries are required to apply through an agent. Candidates along need to check the English language test score as it varies as per course.

    Federation University Scholarships

    Federation University provides international students with numerous scholarships and loans to study in Australia. International students with high grades may also be eligible for the High Achievers Scholarship worth about 18,000 AUD plus a one-year of on-campus accommodation.

    Other scholarships available to international students include:

    • International Excellence Scholarship: worth up to AUD 11,100 for the duration of the degree.
    • Student Accommodation Scholarships: Students may be eligible for an accommodation scholarship. Accommodation facilities include living spaces, kitchens, lounge facilities and recreational areas along with all bills (internet, water and electricity/ gas).
    • Business and Information Technology Scholarship: All students commencing in Business or Information Technology degree will automatically receive the scholarship. The value ranges from AUD 6,000- 9,300 over the full duration of the degree.
    • Engineering and Information Technology Tuition Fee Scholarship and Dean’s Bursary: International students applying to study for an eligible degree will automatically be eligible for a scholarship valued up to AUD 14,000 over the full duration of the degree along with Dean’s Bursary of AUD 1,150 per annum, based on achievements in the study.
    • Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw Scholarship: Federation University Australia Foundation offers the Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw Scholarship to a Higher education Indian student commencing studies in 2021 in the fields of science, technology, engineering or mathematics at the Mt Helen campus, valued at AUD 7,000.
    • Wai-man Woo Scholarship: Federation University Australia Foundation offers the Wai-man Woo Scholarship to a Higher education international student commencing studies in 2021 in undergraduate or postgraduate studies at the Mt Helen campus, valued at AUD 7,000.
    • Australia Awards Scholarship: Federation University participates in the Australia Awards program funded by the Australian Government and administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), providing opportunities for people from the Indo-Pacific region to undertake full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study. The scholarship generally includes full tuition fees, return air travel, an establishment allowance, contribution to living expenses, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), English course fees if required and other support.
    • Destination Australia Scholarships: Destination Australia Scholarships are funded by the Commonwealth Government, and are designed to attract and support students who choose to live and study in regional communities. The scholarship value is up to AUD 15,000 per year, paid in two instalments.
